Mini FAQ

Q.
I'm getting an error. au2h.c:2: error.h: No such file or directory
A.
It's a libc5 problem. Remove #include <error.h> from au2h.c.

Q.
I'm getting an error. ./au2h.c BuddyArrive.h
open: No such file or directory
A.
You're not using gmake, are you. You need to be using gmake.

Q.
How do I use all these cool new protocols?
A.
Load the protocol plugin, and then add an account that uses that protocol :)

Q.
Is it Open Source?
A.
Heck yeah! Gaim is licensed under the GPL which actually makes it Free Software depending on which license author you ask. ;-)

Q.
Did you guys reverse engineer it?
A.
TOC, Jabber, MSN, Napster, and IRC are published protocols, so we didn't have to reverse engineer those. Oscar, ICQ, and Yahoo are not published, and were reverse engineered by other people.

Q.
TCP or UDP?
A.
TCP.

Q.
Are you going to port this wonderful, wonderful clone over to Windows 95/98/NT?
A.
In some of his more beer-augmented moods, Zilding considers it...

Q.
Can I IM you guys?
A.
Sure! Look at the contact information page!

Q.
Can I give you money/hardware/other expensive things that can be hocked for cash what with you all being students/full-time-workers and helping to produce this wonderful software instead of studying/sleeping?
A.
No. We're completely fool-hardy and won't accept any gratuities with no strings attached for just being good guys. That and we'd have to share with everyone who has submitted patches. ;-)
